According to the document, the Announcement of the Application-oriented Model Universities and Specialty Group Construction, issued recently by the Education Department, Development and Reform Commission and Finance Department in Fujian province, Quanzhou Normal University is selected one of the eight application-oriented model universities in Fujian province, which marks a phased objective we have achieved in such respects as promoting transformation development, deepening the integration of education and industry and reforming education pattern, and establishes a characteristic application-oriented education system.
QNU has been devoted to transformation to developing an application-oriented university. With the “three-step development strategy” and a clear orientation to an application-oriented university, the university has worked out a plan to transforming to the application-oriented university and has already carried it out, to meet the requirement of the Route Map of the Transformation and Upgrade of Key Industries in Quanzhou. After strengthening teaching majors, the university makes joint efforts to build six industrial colleges such as College of Textiles, College of Petrochemical, College of Oceanography and Food, College of Intelligent Manufacture, College of Transportation Service, and College of E-Commerce, which make up the 10 Specialty Groups (i.e. 6+4 Specialty Groups) to offer an active service to the construction of the “Five Quanzhou” and to provide talent and intellectual support for building New Fujian.
